What Are Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

Anti Wrinkle Injections commonly known as Botox is a drug made from a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum called botulinum toxin. It is used medically to treat certain muscular conditions and cosmetically to remove wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing muscles.

Botox relaxes facial muscles resulting in a smoothing of the skin and reducing the lines we create when we make facial expressions. Frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles can all be significantly reduced by injecting tiny amounts of botox with a very fine needle.

The Procedure

On the day of your treatment, you will have the opportunity to go through any last minute questions you might have. The Aesthetics practitioner will begin by applying a numbing cream to the areas where the botulinum toxin  is going to be injected. Once the cream has taken effect, the practitioner will use a fine needle to carefully complete the series of small injections, and then ensure the botulinum toxin is evenly distributed in the chosen area’s. Anti-Wrinkle Injection Results

Within the first few days you will see a marked improvement that may continue to improve for as long as a week. A review appointment will be arranged for you after 2 to 3 weeks to check the results.

Results should last up to 4 months and longer in patients who have had anti-wrinkle treatments regularly. Botox relaxes the overactive muscles whose repeated contractions cause the lines to form.
